The company have committed to reduce the inevitable environmental impact that manufacturing can cause and have implemented a traceability system that has been tested and verified to comprehensively cover all aspects from supplier management to post-delivery.
Their ITS badge can be found on each solar module and has a digit to represent a specific production site for each stage of manufacture. In addition they have environmental product declaration, which commits to measure and reduce the environmental impact of its products and services through a life cycle assessment.
Their products meet Warrington Fire B Roof (t4) certification and the SA8000 Social Accountability International Standard and Certification System which provides a framework for organisations of all types, in any industry and in any country to conduct business in a way that is fair and decent for workers and to demonstrate their adherence to the highest social standards.
JA Solar also have a Corporate Social Responsibility Label which guarantees that they have been assessed according to a transparent methodology and subjected to on-site quality control by an independent third-party body. CSR is generally categorised in four ways: environmental responsibility, ethical/human rights responsibility, philanthropic responsibility, and economic responsibility.
JA Solar has also joined the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) which is the only global initiative specifically tailored to the solar industry. It addresses the unique sustainability challenges ensuring participants engage in targeted efforts to improve Environmental Social and Governance performance and responsible production.
